The DMV authorizes companies like ours to process vehicle registration and title services on their behalf. We're a private business and charge service fees in addition to the state's official DMV fees.

 Yes. Late renewals add DMV penalty fees, but we file them every day. In some cases we can request a penalty waiver — bring your renewal notice or just your VIN and we'll review your options. 

 PNO stands for Planned Non-Operation. It tells California you're keeping a vehicle off the road temporarily — common for stored cars, project cars, or deployed military. You stop paying annual registration while the car is parked. File BEFORE your tags expire to avoid penalties. We can file a PNO in about 15 minutes. 

 California gives new residents 20 days to register. We handle the entire process same-day: title transfer from your old state, VIN verification, smog coordination, and California plates in your hand. Most movers walk out road-legal the same afternoon. 

We don't perform smog tests ourselves, but we coordinate with smog stations and accept smog certificates as part of your renewal. If you're not sure whether your vehicle needs smog, we'll check during your visit.

 Yes. We can look up your vehicle by VIN or license plate. The renewal notice is helpful but not required. 

  I lost my car title. How do I get a replacement? A: We file Duplicate Title applications (REG 227) same-day. Your new title arrives in the mail in 15–30 days. For a standard duplicate — same owner, no ownership change, no lienholder changes — notarization is NOT required. Notarization IS required when releasing ownership at the same time, or when adding or removing a lienholder via the REG 227. Our Notary is on-site for any of those cases.  California gives you 10 days to transfer the title after buying or selling a vehicle. We do title transfers same-day — bring the title, your ID, and the bill of sale if you have one. We handle the paperwork while you're here. 

 An absent title is when you bought a car but the seller never gave you the title. We file using a Bill of Sale + Statement of Facts (REG 256) — faster than small claims court. Bring whatever paperwork you have. 

 Yes. We handle salvage certificate review, brake & light inspection coordination, photo documentation guidance, and rebuilt title filing. Most shops won't touch this paperwork — we do it every week. 

 We handle inherited vehicles every week. The process depends on whether there was a will, probate court status, and family situation. Call us with the details and we'll tell you exactly which forms apply. 

 Often, yes. Both parties don't need to be at iRegs at the same time. As long as the title is properly signed (and notarized in cases that require it — like the seller releasing ownership), the buyer can bring it in alone and we'll complete the transfer. The same applies when adding a co-owner: if they signed in the correct spots and gave authorization, they don't need to come in. Our Notary is on-site for anyone who wants to sign the title here.

 An apostille is a certification issued by the California Secretary of State that authenticates a notarized document for use in another country. Required for Mexico, Spain, most of Europe, Japan, and other Hague Convention countries. If you're traveling to a Hague country with a notarized document, yes — you need an apostille. We handle it in-house.

 Text a copy of your dealer license to (916) 236-8591. Once we receive it, we'll set you up in our system and get DMV approval — usually fast. From there, you can start sending us bulk title transfers, lien releases, temp tags, plates, and out-of-state acquisitions. Dealer services are our specialty! 

 Same-day for standard transfers, lien releases, and replacement plates. Complex cases (out-of-state acquisitions, dealer, fleet renewals) typically resolve within 1–3 business days. We file electronically, so turnaround beats mail-in services. 

 PFR is a California DMV program for fleet owners. Instead of annual renewal stickers, fleet vehicles get a permanent fleet sticker for the license plate and a permanent registration card. The DMV sends a monthly renewal listing for vehicles in the fleet that expire that month — easier than tracking renewals one by one. We handle PFR applications (REG 3500) and ongoing renewals for dealers and fleet owners with multiple vehicles. 

 PYR is for commercial vehicles that don't operate year-round in California. Vehicles can be registered for any amount of time between 1 and 12 months. Commercial operators pay weight fees on a monthly basis rather than for a full year upfront — useful for seasonal operators or vehicles with limited usage periods.
